German runners at Longchamp

Longchamp stages today its first racing since the "Arc" meeting, and although obviously the racing is of much lower standard than 10 days ago, there are still some nice races and the possibility of more German success, following Smooth Operator´s win in a Group race at Chantilly yesterday. He is trained by Mario Hofer, who today saddles Kaliyan (Jean-Pierre Carvalho) in the opening tiercé handicap over 3100 metres at 13.50. However this is a very tough race and it is not certain that he can beat Brigitte Renk´ s Milongo (Thierry Jarnet) among others. Miroslav Rulec´s Thanatos, with top jockey Christophe Soumillon aboard. probably has a better chance in the 2000 metres race for 3yo´s at 15.20. The same trainer saddles his stable star Thunder Storm Cat (Stephane Pasquier) in a conditions race over 2100 metres at 16.20, and although he has shown his best form on the all-weather, he could run well in this company, as could Baron Ullmann´ s El Comodin (André Fabre/ Maxime Guyon). The final German runner is Andreas Trybuh s Something Stupid (Andreas Suborics) in thre 1800 metres claimer at 16.50.
