all-weather racing at Lingfield and Kempton

no flat racing on turf today, but all-weather racing this afternoon at Lingfield and this evening at Kempton. There are only 5 runners in Lingfield´s featured event, a condtions race for 2yo´s over 6 furlongs at 17.00 CET. This looks a match between Calligrapher (Michael Jarvis/ Philip Robinson) and Godolphin´s Global City (Frankie Dettori), all of whose runs so far have been over 5 furlongs, but who is bred to stay further. The most interesting race at Kempton is also for juveniles, this time over a mile at 20.20. 14 runners and several with chances, including Karl Burke´ s Markyg (Neil Callan), whose Royal Ascot third is the best form in the race, Lady Drac (Barry and Michael Hills) and Charlie Smirke (Gary Moore/ George Baker), a beaten favourite here last time, but the one to beat is probably History Lesson, whose trainer Richard Hannon and jockey Richard Hughes are in great form. As he is owned by the Queen, it would be appropriate if Reigning Monarch (Zoe Davidson/ Sam Hitchcott) could win the 6 furlongs handicap an hour later, and he is in fact the form choice after his narrow defeat at Great Leighs last week.
