German runners at Maisons-Laffitte

Three German-trained winners yesterday at Nancy and there could be more today, when there is flat racing at Maisons-Laffitte and German runners in 6 of the 8 races. Mario Hofer saddles Davitesse (Jean-Pierre Carvalho) in the opening 1200 metres race for 2yo´s at 14.05, and also Le Combattant (Dominique Boeuf) in the mile race for 3yo´s at 15.35, in which race Oasis Wind (Christian von der Recke/ Alxi Badel) and Berlinale (Horst Steinmetz/ Davy Bonilla) are also engaged. Gentire (Hans-Jürgen Gröschel/ Torsten Mundry) runs in the 2100 metres race for 3yo´s at 16.05, while 6 German-trained runers line up in the mile race half an hour later, including Bandarella, Andreas Suborics´ first ride in his new capacity as stable jockey for Waldemar Hickst. The others are Mister Bold (Scarlet Möller/ Carvalho), Man of Fire (Erika Mäder/ Ioritz Mendizbal), Go Directa (Christian Sprengel/ Mundry), Qui Dancer (Hans Blume/ Bael) and Auenwiese (von der Recke/ Boeuf). N´Oubliez Jamais (Blume/ B oeuf), Montirat (Steinmetz/ Bonilla), Sovento(Hickst/ Subi) and Festero (von der recke/ Christophe Soumillon) all go for the 2400 metres race at 17.05, while Daudet (Blume/ Johan Victoire), Esperanto (Steinmetz/ Bonilla) and Giant Generation (Pavel Vovcenko/ Christophe Soumillon) run in the final mile race at 17.35. Apart from the opening juvenile race, all the races are "reclamers", i.e. claiming races and there is in every event a huge field, with no race having less than 16 runners, so finding winners will not be easy. There is also trotting this afternoon at Angers.
