Today´s racing in the U.K.

Three flat meetings this afternoon, as well as Kempton´s all-weather evening fixture, but with the big Newmarket Cambridgeshire meeting starting tomorrow, not to mention the "Arc" meeting at the weekend, the quality on offer is mainly very poor. Frankie Dettori is riding at Nottingham, proncipally to partner Godolphin´s Actof Diplomacy in the mile maiden at 17.25 CET. This $ 8.2 million yearling was an odds-on flop when only 6th on his debut at Kempton in early August and obviously connections are hoping for a better result now, but Otaared (Michael Jarvis/ Philip Robinson), an own brother to Laa Rayb, ran very well last time and looks a huge danger. 4 of the 8 races at salisbury are for 2yo´s and the most interesting is the conditions race over 6 furlongs at 17.05. 6 of the 7 runners re winners, and two of them Ouqba (Barry and Richard Hills) and Qalahari (Denis Coakley/ Tadge O´Shea) were not disgraced in group races, but with the Richard Hannon juveniles firing on all fron ts, it is probably best to concentrate on his two runners, Mamlakat (Richard Hughes) and Ginobili (Pat Dobbs). At Newcastle, where the going will be very testing, the two 2yo maidens should go to Prime Mood (Bryan Smart/ Tom Eaves) over 6 furlongs at 16.10 and Montaff (Mick Channon/ Edward Creighton) in the mile race at 16.45, but on this ground and with some unknown quantities in each race, punters should tread carefully. At Kempton´s evening a.w. meeting, the most interesting event is the 1 1/2 mile handicap for 3yo´s at 21.50; Rotative (Walter Swinburn/ Ted Durcan) was a narrow winner of his only race so far, here over 10 furlongs, and is stepping up in trip, as is Falcativ (Luca Cumani/ Dame O´Neill). On pedigree, both should stay this distance but the most reliable choice seems to be Hughie Morrison´s Mista Rossa (Travis Block), who has an excellent track record (122).
