Lingfield (a.w.) and Newton Abbot (N.H.)

Another Tuesday candidate for the worst day´s racing of the year, with low-level meetings this afternoon at Lingfield on the all-weather and Newton Abbot over jumps. The going looks likely to be very soft at the latter track, and easy last-time-out winners Distiller (Nigel Twiston-Davies/ Paddy Brennan) and Option Money (Tim Vaughan/ Richard Johnson) are not certain to go on the ground, but they could still outclass the opposition in the novice hurdle at 16.15 CET. Jonjo O´Neill continues in decent form and can land a double here with Jam Packed (Tony McCoy) in the handicap chase at 16.45 and Well Saved (Bobby McLernon) in the long distance handicap hurdle half an hour later. Easily the best race at Lingfield is the 6 furlongs handicap at 17.00 with 12 runners, most of whom can be given a chance. Dvinsky (Paul Howland/ Kirsty Milczarek) is in good form, but seems to be more of a Kempton specialist, while Rasaman (Kevin Ryan/ Darryll Holland) has won both this starts this CD, but they were in the spring of 2007. Lochstar (Andrew Balding/ Franny Norton) also won this CD 15 months ago, but has only run once since; he is a son of the great Lochsong and the stable remains in excellent form. Chjimes (Charles Dore/ Seb Sanders) is also in good form and won over this CD recently, beating Vintage (Jon Akehurst/ Eddie Ahern), who now reopposes on 4 lbs better terms. The opening maiden race over 1 1/2 miles at 15.30 looks more straightforward and Frankie Dettori can take this on Godolphin´s Red Kestrel, his only mount of the day.
