Racing this evening

This evening sees flat racing from Newbury - by their normal standards a weak card - as well as N.H. racing fro Newton Abbot and a mixed meeting at Sligo in Ireland, with 3 flat races, 3 over hurdles and a bumper. At the Irish track, Thirdofthe forth (Mark Fagan/ Adrian Joyce), who has finished fourth three times running, can take the maiden hurdle for 5yo´s at 20.55 CET. At Newbury the most interesting race looks to be the 7 furlongs maiden fpr 2yo fillies at 20.25. John Dunlop has won this race with a newcomer for the last two years, but sets punters a problem by saddling three runners this time, Persian Memories (Kerrin McEvoy), the closely-related Tinkerbelle (Eddie Ahern) and Zaaqya (Richard Hills). At Newton Abbot, trainer David Pipe and jockey Tom Scudamore look the team to follow and can win the two best races with the top-weights I´m SoLucky at 20.35 and Star of Germany half an hour later. The selling hurdle at 20.00 can go to hat-trick seeking Indian Star; this Schlenderhan-bred was one of the leading German classic hopes in 2001, but it seems after many disapointments that he has found his true metier at last!
