Yorkshire Cup

Third and final day of York´s May meeting, and the main feature today is the Group Two Yorkshire Cup over 1 3/4 miles at 15.40 CET. Severalold friends here including Sergeant Cecil (Rod Millman/ Alan Munro) and Geordieland(Jamie Osborne/ Shane Kelly), first and second in this last year. However the two to beat are Royal and Regal (Michael Jarvis/ Neil Callan), who is not a certain runner if the going remains on the firm side, and Aidan O´Brien´s Honolulu (Johnny Murtagh), an excellent second in the Ebor here last August and beaten favourite in the St.Leger. Several potentially smart 2yo fillies run in the opening listed race over 5 furlongs at 14.40; 10 of the 11 runners are already winners, and among those who made an excellent impression is Langs Lash (Mick Quinlan/ Alan Munro), but she like all others is stepping up in grade here. The listed race for 3yo fillies over a mile at 16.10 should mainly concern Makaaseb (Michael Jarvis/ Martin Dwyer) and Musical Bar (Barry Hills/ Alan Munro), while te handicaps as always look extremely difficult.
