York plays second fiddle to Ascot this afternoon, but still has some very competitive racing, notably the two valuable handicaps, over a mile at 15.15 CET and over 6 furlongs at 16.55, both with 20 runners. The latter event looks as if it has been targeted by Richard Fahey, who has the won this race for the past two seasons and now saddles 5 runners. All of them should go well, but we select Irish Heartbeat, the choice of stable jockey Paul Hanagan, and CD specialist Knot in Wood (Barry McHugh), who ran his best race for some time when 6th in the Ayr Gold Cup, racing on the wrong side. Fahey also has a chance in the mile race with Extraterrestrial (Hanagan) - despite poor form figures - but here we prefer Andrew Balding´s improving Brick Red (David Probert).
Betting forecast:
1. Race: Maraheb - Spey Song - Vantaa
2. Race: Brick Red - Gunner Lindley - Extraterrestrial
3. Race: Descaro - Dubara Reef - Tillietudlem
4. Race: Barefoot Lady - Easy Ticket - Murbeh
5. Race: Poet`S Place - Colonel Mak - Tajneed
6. Race: Shallow Bay - The Caped Crusader - Path Of Peace
7. Race: Tepmokea - Kathleen Frances - Alsahil
Wolverhampton´s card this evening is very low profile. The 2yo maiden over 8 1/2 furlongs at 19.40 looks the most interesting event and could go to Godolphin´s Jaridh, just touched off by a nose this CD on his only start. He will be partnered by Richard Hughes, who has mounts in the last 6 races and has not yet given up his hopes of winning the jockeys´ championship for the first time.
Betting forecast:
1. Race: One Cool Bex - Rylee Mooch - Country Waltz
2. Race: White Shift - Kinigi - Bateleur
3. Race: Jaridh - Oversteer - Irons On Fire
4. Race: Riot Police - Claret`N`Blue - Scented
5. Race: Resplendent Ace - Red Kestrel - Taste The Wine
6. Race: Male Model - Tinkertown - Dazzling Valentine
7. Race: Bushwhacker - Praesepe - Sparking
8. Race: Honoured - Frameit - Ella Grace
