German runners in France today

The Cagnes sur mer meeting continues today and once again there are some German runners with chances engaged. Pavel Vovcenko saddles his good stayer Limatus (Davy Bonilla) in the 2 mile conditions race at 13.05. This distance is far more suitable than the trip over which he ran last time and he definitely ought to be placed. Later Werner Baltromei and Mario Hofer go head to head in the mile handicap at 17.10 with Noblement (William Mongil) and Sumatra Tiger (Dominique Boeuf) respectively. Sumatra Tiger is easily preferred, having finished runner-up twice, but both German horses are badly drawn and there is the small matter of 16 other runners in a very open race, so over-optimism is certainly not justified.
