Following yesterday´s good performances by the German-trained runners at Meydan, -no winners, but a lucrative second, third and fourth place - hopes are high that today´s two German runners might do just as well on the third day of the Dubai Racing Carnival. They are Northern Glory (Wolfgang Figge/ Karoly Kerekes) in the 11 furlongs handicap at 16.50 CET and the lightly-raced Atila Sher Danon (Waldemar Hickst/ Alan Munro) in the 9 1/2 furlongs at 19.55.
Neither of them of course faces an easy task, but we hope to see them finish in the money against some tough opposition. Both these races are in the tapeta track, but two races are on turf, including the main event, the Cape Verdi, a Group Three race for fillies over a mile at 18.45. This has attracted a strong and cosmopolitan field with runners from several different countries, including the Indian-trained Yana. However we expect the two stables who have dominated the season so far - South Africa´s Mike de Kock and local champions Godolphin - with 3 winners each yesterday- to take this race, either with Zirconeum (Kevin Shea) or Aspectoflove /Frankie Dettori) respectively.
