All-weather racing at Lingfield and Wolverhampton

There were some surprising results yesterday on the all-weather and at this time of year not everything turns out as expected. However we do expect Mark Johnston to continue his winning run with Abergavenny (Greg Fairley) in the 10 furlongs maiden at 14.45 CET at Lingfield. On his recent debut over this CD he got no run at all, and in any case the Johnston runners almost always show great improvement on their second run.

Johnston also runs The Mighty Mod in the 3yo handicap at 15.20, but this one has shown nothing at all so far and is quite possible the worst horse in the yard. The top-weights Bubbly Braveheart (Alan Bailey/ Robert Winston) and Glen Lass (Jeff Pearce/ Saleem Golam) are the two for us in this event.

At Wolverhampton there are only 4 runners in the 3yo handicap over 9 furlongs at 18.35, which can go to bottom-weight Thundering Home (Ed Dunlop/ Paul Hanafgan), a CD winner last time. Two top-weights who can score here are Shakalaka (Gary Moore/ George Baker) in the claimer at 19.05 and Chosen Forever (Geoff Oldroyd/ Jimmy Quinn) in the handicap half an hour later, both also over the same distance. The latter has an excellent track record and was just beaten here last time after 3 CD wins. Another one in good form is Divine Force (Michael Wigham/ Simon Whítworth), who has won his last 3 races and can keep up the good work in the 6 furlongs handicap at 20.35.
