Royal Ascot: rest of day two

The remaining 5 races at Royal Ascot today look very tricky, although Lush Lashes (Jim Bolger/ Kevin Manning) must surely have a good chance of taking the Group Two Windsor Forest for older fillies and mares over a mile at 16.05 CET. She has a 5 lbs penalty for winning the Coronation Stakes over this CD a year ago, but that is easily the best form on offer here; should she flop, Heaven Sent (Sir Michael Stoute/ Ryan Moore) and Proviso (André Fabre/ Stephane Pasquier) are the two alternatives. The opening Jersey Stakes (3yo, 7 furlongs, Group Three) is very difficult with question marks over several of the runners, and further complicated by the fact that some trainers are double-handed here, e.g. Brian Meehan with Nasri (Jamie Spencer) and Gallagher (Martin Dwyer), Saeed bin Suroor with Asaram (Frankie Dettori) and Donativum (Ted Durcan) and Barry Hills with Infiraad (Richard Hills) and Ouqba (Tadge O´Shea).

Donativum and Gallagher are best on 2008 form, but this could be the race for a surprise result and we will take a chance on Ouqba. After the success of an American 2yo yesterday, one has to give his stable companion Jealous Again (Wesley Ward/ John Velasquez) a chance in the Group Two Queen Mary Stakes for 2yo fillies over 5 furlongs at 17.55. With 7 of the 13 runners still unbeaten, this looks very open, and Rose Blossom (Richard Fahey/ Paul Hanagan), Misheer (Clive Brittain/ Neil Callan) and Dont Tell Mary (Tom Dascombe/ Richard Kingscote) must also be considered. Th 2 handicaps on today´s card ar of cours xtremely difficult. The Royal Hunt Cup over the straight mile at 17.20 has 28 runners (there are 3 non-runners) will be the usual cavalry charge. Forgotten Voice (Jeremy Noseda/ Johnny Murtagh) is unbeaten (in 3 races, all on the all-weather) and is the likely favourite, but he is drawn on, which is not necessarily an advantage here. The listed Sandringham handicap for 3yo fillies at 18.30, also over the straight mile, has 20 runnrs. Moonlife (Saeed bin Suroor/ Frankie Dettori) was unlucky last time, and could be Godolphin´s best chance of the day.
