Main feature of the fifth and final day of Royal Ascot is the Group One Golden Jubilee over 6 furlongs at 16.45 CET. This has been a wonderful meeting with winners from all over - the U.S., Australia, France and Ireland - but this race (despite the absense of Budapest Bullet Overdose and Australian course specialist Takeover Target) is the most international of all. The two favourites are the South African JJ the Jet Plane (Mike de Kock/ Kevin Shea) and the Hong Kong star Sacred KIngdom (PF Yiu/ Brian Prebble), both of them among the world´s top performers at this distance. Then there is the unbeaten Greek sprinter Ialysos, now trained by Luca Cumani. The two 3yo´s in the field of 14, Bushranger (David Wachman/ Pat Smullen) and Art Connoisseur (Michael Bell/ Tom Queally) were among the best juveniles of 2008, but it is still tough for this age group against their elders. Kingsgate Native (Sir Michael Stoute/ Ryan Moore) won this last year, but today´s field is much stronger and he has had an unsuccessful spell at stud since. The American Cannonball (Wesley Ward/ Olivier Peslier) was not disgraced when 6th in the Kings Stand on Tuesday over an inadequate 5 furlongs. Godolphin´s Diabolical (Saeed bin Suroor/ Frankie Dettori) has frequently run well in sich events, but Mike de Kock seems very confident about the chances of JJ the Jet Plane and he is our selection.
