Strong guests in the Prix Jean Prat

Deauville, Sunday 9 July: A full card of ten races is on offer in Deauville today. There is also a big crowd in the classic Prix Jean Prat (5th race/15.50/400.000 Euro/1400 m), in which twelve three-year-olds are still under order after the early withdrawal of Habana.

Chaldean (Oisin Murphy) is considered the favourite. The Andrew Balding-trained colt last ran in the St James Palace Stakes (Group 1) and finished second to Charyn (David Egan) and Indestructible (Kevin Stott), who finished not far back. At the same time Shouldvebeenaring (Christophe Soumillon) ran in the Commonwealth Cup (Group 1), but was not quite convincing when finishing seventh. He fared better before that in the Sandy Lane Stakes (Group 2). Breizh Sky (Maxime Guyon), who was slightly ahead in the Prix Paul de Moussac (Group 3) against Good Guess (Stephane Pasquier), Showay (Anthony Crastus) and Belbek (Bauyrzhan Murzabayev), is also expected to be in the front running. Meditate (Ryan Moore) could beat them all despite a mediocre performance in the Coronation Stakes (Group 1).
