Tahiyra favoured in the Irish 1000 Guineas

Curragh, Sunday, 28 May: On the second day of the Festival at the Curragh, it is the turn of the mares in the Irish 1000 Guineas (5th race/16.50 h/500,000 Euro/1609 m). It should be enough for Tahiyra (Chris Hayes), who only lost by half a length in the English equivalent, to win this time, but Meditate (Ryan Moore), who was hardly convincing when sixth, could turn around her form.

The O`Brien mare`s victory in the Breeders` Cup (Group 1) is the main argument in her favour. In the Moyglare Stud Stakes (Group 1), the Weld representative was better than Meditate and Eternal Silence (Shane Foley), who was a good third behind Aspen Grove (Mark Enright) in the Irish EBF Stakes (Group 3) before. The latter currently placed in the Cornelscourt Stakes (Group 3) behind second-placed Tarawa (W. Lee), who also runs for the colours of the Aga Khan. Jackie Oh (Seamie Heffernan) showed two strong performances this year, which should be enough for a top placing.
