Group 2 day at Haydock

Haydock, Saturday 27 May: Upscale sport takes place at Haydock today with the Sandy Lane Stakes (4th race/16.00pm/125,000 pounds/1210m) the first of two Group 2 races. Little Big Bear (Frankie Dettori), who disappointed completely in his first start of the season in the English 2000 Guineas, gets another chance. He will meet equal opponents in Cold Case (Clifford Lee) and Bradsell (Hollie Doyle). Both recently finished first and third in the Commonwealth Cup Trial (Group 3). Al Dasim (William Buick) became a series winner at Meydan.

The Temple Stakes (5th race/16.30pm/125,000 pounds/1010m) promises to be a fast-paced affair. The Platinum Queen (Hollie Doyle) should appear in old strength after her change to trainer Roger Varian. The winner of the Prix de l`Abbaye (Group 1) does not have an easy opponent to get out of the way with Twilight Calls (Connor Beasley). The latter, however, has to run better than last time in the Palace House Stakes (Group 3). Royal Aclaim (Neil Callan), Dramatised (William Buick) and Live In The Dream (Sean Kirrane) are other top sprinters with chances to win.
