First Derby preliminary test in Krefeld

Krefeld, Friday, 28 April: It might be a novelty, due to scheduling problems the Grand Prix of the Wohnstätte Krefeld - Dr. Busch-Memorial (Group III, 55,000 Euros, 1,700 m) will be run on a Friday for the first time at the season opener in Krefeld 2023. The first important Derby preliminary test in this country also found an excellent line-up this time with nine candidates.

Against Brave Emperor (L. Morris), who has already won six times in England, from the stable of Archie Watson, the German horses should have a hard time. However, the Ratibor runner-up Lips Freedom (M. Seidl) and Arcandi (R. Piechulek), who finished third in the Prize of the Winter Favourite, should have good prospects. Saint-Cloud (L. Delozier) could earn his way up further.

In total, expect six races between 4:30pm and 7:10pm. 10,000 euros are up for grabs in the foursome bet of the 2nd race (winless three-year-olds, 2,350 m). The twice second-placed Napolitano (R. Piechulek) is a possible bank horse.
