Finale with the Grand Critérium

Cagnes-sur-Mer, Sunday, 12 March: The trotting meeting on the Riviera, which has been running since December, ends today with a nine-race programme around the Grand Critérium de Vitesse de la Côte d`Azur (6th race/16.25 h/200,000 Euro/1609 m).


As last year`s winner Etonnant was already conspicuous by his absence at the classics in Paris, the duel between the Frenchman and Vivid Wise As (Mathieu Abrivard), who is one of the absolute track specialists here with five classic victories (two in the Grand Criterium, three in the Grand Prix), will not take place. In order to finally immortalise himself in the eternal best list, the Italian will have to call up the form from the Prix de France (Group 1), where he finished a strong second behind Ampia Mede Sm. Behind them, Delia du Pommereux (Pierre-Yves Verva), who was successful against Vernissage Grif (Alessandro Gocciadoro) in the preparation for the Prix d`Amérique, appealed. The short distance should suit the stablemate of Vivid Wise As, otherwise the nine-year-old currently has little to offer. Go On Boy (Romain Derieux) brought himself back into the conversation with his victory in the Prix du Chesnay (Course B) and, like the in-form but high class Gently de Muze (Christophe Martens), is eligible for the better place money.
