Strongly contested Prix de Cornulier

Paris-Vincennes, Sunday, 22 January: The most famous and most valuable trotting race in the world takes place today on the Plateau de Gravelle with the Prix de Cornulier (4th race/15.15/700,000 Euro/2700 m). Among the 18 participants there are two who have already exceeded the winning sum limit of one million euros.

Flamme du Goutier (Mathieu Mottier) and Etoile de Bruyere (David Thomain) are the richest in the field and are expected to be far in front. However, the only way to win is through the Duvaldestin mare, who already won the classic last year. A week later, the eight-year-old ran in the Prix d`Amérique and was fully convincing in third place. Flamme du Goutier recently proved how well she performs in front of the sulky in the Prix du Bourgogne (Group 2), where she finished second ahead of Zarenne Fas (Matilde Herleiksplass) and Hanna des Molles (Alexandre Abrivard), among others. The latter clearly won the newly created Prix Bilibili (Group 1) a year ago ahead of Happy and Lucky (Adrien Lamy), who has not competed since and enters the fray without a prep race. Granvillaise Bleue (Camille Levesque) and Etoile de Bruyere completed the trifecta twelve months ago. Both currently ran in the Prix du Calvados (Group 2) and paled in fifth and seventh. As expected, Fantaisie (Francois Lagadeuc) and Fado du Chêne (Paul Philippe Ploquin) won the race and Hirondelle de Rib (Jean Dersoir) and Freeman de Houelle (Benjamin Rochard) were well placed.
