Défi du Galop in Dieppe

Dieppe, Tuesday 1 November: An eight-race programme takes place at the penultimate event of the season in Dieppe. After two steeplechase tests, the race continues on the flat course, where the Grand Prix de Nantes (7th race/15.32 h/60,000 Euro/2400 m/List race) marks the highlight.

The 14th leg of the race series `Défi du Galop` gathers 14 horses at the start. Mutabahi (Olivier Peslier) enters the race at the highest mark and thus up to nine pounds heavier than the lightweights. The four-year-old, who won this year`s Prix d`Hedouville (Group 3) and was recently somewhat overtaxed at Group 2 level, will be challenged by Prince de Montfort (Mickael Barzalona), who is one and a half kilos lighter and managed the feat of winning two heavy Quinté handicaps in Longchamp in October. Sir George (Antoine Subias) was surprisingly better in the Grand Prix de la Ville de Craon (Listed race) than In Front (Maxime Guyon), who later narrowly missed victory in the Prix Scaramouche (Listed race). Wildwood (Stephane Pasquier) came off brilliantly against the two In Front conquerors in Saint-Cloud. Garachico (Tony Piccone) has been chasing a top finish for some time, but this time it could work out.
