Youngsters in focus in Newmarket

Newmarket, Saturday 24 September: The Cambridgeshire Meeting at Newmarket concludes today with a seven-race programme. The youngest raceable yearling takes centre stage and kicks off the event with the Royal Lodge Stakes (1st race/14.50pm/125,000 pounds/1609m). Prepared by Charlie Appleby for Godolphin, Flying Honours (William Buick) could become a series winner but has a strong opponent ahead of him in Aidan O`Brien`s Greenland (Ryan More), who has won once so far.

In the Cheveley Park Stakes (2nd race/15.25pm/291,850 pounds/1210m), ten fillies will battle at Group 1 level. Losing only in the Moyglare Stud Stakes (Group 1) in her career in five outings, Meditate (Ryan Moore) is tipped as favourite. Current Flying Childs Stakes winner Trillium (Pat Dobbs) should be close on her heels. Swingalong (Cliford Lee) claimed the Lowther Stakes (Group 2) and, like Lezoo (William Buick), Treasure Trove (W. Lee) and Juliet Sierra (Rob Hornby), who are also used to winning, is expected to be well in front.

The Middle Park Stakes (3rd race/16.00/275,000 pounds/1210m) is reserved for the stallions. The way to victory is through Blackbeard (Ryan Moore). He gave Persian Force (Rossa Ryan) and The Antarctic (Tom Maraquand) no chance in his last hit in the Prix Morny (Group 1) and marked his fifth win in seven starts. The O`Brien protégé will have to be wary of Marshman (Clifford Lee), who finished a strong second in the Gimcrack Stakes (Group 2). Mischief Magic (William Buick) is also conceivable as a winner with his three victories.
