Irish Oaks without Emily Upjohn

Curragh, Saturday 16 July: With only seven horses, the Irish Oaks (5th race/16.45/500,000 Euro/2410m) is on today at the Curragh. The organiser has to lament the absence of Emily Upjohn, who could not make the trip to Ireland due to transport difficulties.

Thus, Magical Lagoon (Shane Foley) is in the favour of the betting public. She currently won the Ribblesdale Stakes (Group 2) against History (Wayne Lordan), who previously played no part in the Irish 1000 Guineas. Cairde Go Deo (Colin Keane) has made a name for herself as a two-time Listed winner and is a firm favourite, as is Emily Dickinson (Seamie Heffernan), who narrowly lost out at Group 3 level recently. Toy (Ryan Moore) did not hit it easy repeatedly at Group 1 level in France. The choice of jockey speaks for the O`Brien mare. Show Of Stars (W. Lee) and Fennela (Shane Crosse) scored in smaller tasks.
