Small Derby in Toulouse

Toulouse, Tuesday 28 June: The Derby du Languedoc (4th race/18.12h/55.000 Euro/2400m) will be decided today at the Hippodrome La Cépière in Toulouse. The list race is aimed at three-year-old horses and trainer Jean-Claude Rouget is saddling three of them. The immensely consistent Intuitu (Cristian Demuro) has never finished outside the trifecta and is once again expected to be in the front running. Balanovka (Jean-Bernard Eyquem) won her last race on this course, where the Prix Caravelle (Listed race) was also decided in April. The Lope de Vega daughter finished fifth ahead of Lovely Diamond (Guillaume Trolley de Prevaux) and Winema (Guillaume Guedj-Gay). The latter currently won a `Classe 2` in La Teste-de-Buch. Lovely Diamond finished second at List level in her native Spain over three weeks ago. Long Ridge Road (Coralie Pacaut) won her third race of the season in Marseille and three lengths back Night Endeavor (Antonio Orani) was third. She`s Cosmic (Sylvain Ruis) cut a decent figure in fifth in the Prix de Royaumont (Group 3). Zarakhan (Alexandre Gavilan) lost quite clearly in Chantilly, defeated Balanovka in a `Classe 1` before.
