Modern News hard to beat at Windsor

Windsor, Monday 9 May: A seven-race programme is on the agenda at Windsor today. The centrepiece of the event is the Windsor Stakes (4th race/19.40/43,000 pounds/1640m).

With only four horses, the Listed test is well-filled. Modern News (William Buick), trained by Charlie Appleby for Godolphin, cannot avoid being the favourite. He won a handicap at Newbury on his last start and returned to winning ways after being unbeaten on three consecutive occasions last year. Bell Rock (David Probert) is recommended by fourth in the Earl Of Sefton Stakes (Group 3). Some four lengths back, Catch Twentytwo (Adam Kirby) disappointed in last. It was the first start on the island for the four-year-old formerly running in South Africa. Tempus (Hollie Doyle) finished second in a Listed race this year. In his most recent appearance in the All-Weather Mile, he did not finish beyond midfield.
