Season debut of Diamantis

Chantilly, Tuesday, March 22: The sand track in Chantilly is the venue today for eight exciting races with German participation. Trainer Andreas Suborics will saddle Diamantis (Martin Seidl), who was beaten below value in the Derby, in the Prix du Canal de la Machine (2nd race/14.25 pm/28,000 euros/1900 m). A year ago, the Golden Horn son scored his first win in Düsseldorf, then followed it up with another here on the grass track. After an unremarkable run in the St. Leger, Diamantis switched to the break. His stablemate Wow was taken out of the field early. The priority is to beat Chachnak (Enzo Crublet), who won here in February and ran without a chance in the `Arc de Triomphe` in 2020. Charlesquint (Gregory Benoist), who finished third here three weeks ago, and Thirsty (Cristian Demuro), who follows not far behind, are also horses with early chances. Roberto Mount (Marc Nobili) knows the track inside out and should play a supporting role. Wild Gypsy Boy (Anna van den Troost) travels from Belgium with two meaningful winning forms. He claims weight allowance as well as High Trend (Marylien Eon), for whom it is the first appearance after his winning performance 21 months ago.
