the flat season starts today!

today is the official opening of the flat season in the U.K. with the traditional Lincoln Handicap over the straight mile at Doncaster at 16.45 CET the main event. This has become a high class event and the winner has to be up to listed class at least, Ocean Tempest (John Ryan/ Joe Doyle) won it last year, with Robert the Painter (David O´Meara/ Shelley Birkett) third and Gabrial´s kaka (Richard Fahey/ Jack Garrity) sixth, both now better off. The draw could play a major role here, and many people believe that the high numbers (stands side) have an advantage, which should be good news for the Kaka drawn 22 and Gm Hopkins (John Gosden/ Rab Havlin) drawn 21. However this is not necessarily true and the likely favourite Mange All (William Haggas/ Graham Lee) is drawn 7, while our fancy Belgian Bill (George Baker/ Pat Smullen) is drawn 2. The consolation race at 16.10 is equally open, our hope here is Donny Rover (Mike Appleby/ Liam Jones). There are also gtwolisted races on the Card, and we like Baltic Knight (Richard hannon/ Lee) at 15.00 and Astaire (Kevoin TRyamn/ Jamie Spencer) at 15.35.
There is plenty more racing today and our best bet of the day is ex-Peter Schiergen Lanceur (Lucy Wadham/ Leighton Aspell) over hurdles at 14.50 at Stratford.
