Catterick only jumps card today

Catterick stages the only jumps racing today and AP McCoy travels to Yorkshire with good prospects of riding a few winners. His main reason is presumably to partner Philip Hobbs´ If In Doubt for JP McManus in the beginners chase at 15.40 CET. A smart hurdler, he has not won over fences yet but can put that right today. McCoy also has a good chance in the novice hurdle at 14.40 on John Quinn´s Chieftain´s Choice, but here we prefer Jacks Last Hope (Chris Grant/ Brian Hughes) in receipt of 7 lbs. Our other fancies on this low grade card are Danceintothelight (Micky Hammond/ Alice Mills), with one of the best amateurs aboard at 13.10, and Bourne in the handicap hurdle at 15.10, who has not won for a long time but has been running in much better races. Ex-German Pindar (Jody Foster/ Dougie Costello) has bottom weight in the handicap chase at 14.10; he won a similar race when last seen 3 months ago and can perhaps score again, while McCoy is also expected to win the 3yo hurdle at 13.40 on debutant New Street for Jim Best.

Betting forecast:
1. Race: Some Lad - Danceintothelight - Pegasus Walk
2. Race: New Street - Celtic Artisan - Grand Meister
3. Race: Pindar - Cango - Dark And Dangerous
4. Race: Jacks Last Hope - Chieftain`s Choice - Argent Knight
5. Race: Iconic Rose - Foot The Bill - Bourne
6. Race: Askamore Darsi - Lord Brendy - Volo Mio
7. Race: Junius Brutus - Bear Island Flint - Chitu

The all-weather meetings at Southwell and Kempton are only of minor interest. In both cases the best betting race is a 5 furlongs handicap, in which we hope that CD specialists Sir Geoffrey (Scott Dixon/ Tim Clark) and Triple Dream (Milton Bradley/ Jimmy Quinn) can repay a small each-way Investment at 15.30 and 16.20 respectively.
