Hennessy Gold Cup at Newbury

the Hennessy Gold Cup, a 3 1/4 mile handicap chase to be run at 16.00 CET at Newbury today, is always one of the best races of the season and has been won by many N.H. stars including Gold Cup winners Denham and Bobsworth. It is also one of thr boiggest betting races of the whole year and the Money so far has come for Irish raider Dkakadam (Willie Mullins/ Ruby Walsh) and Fingal Bay (Philip Hobbs/ Richard Johnson), but to be honest we are a bit dubious about them both - they are both relatively inexperienced and unproven at this trip, which will take a lot of getting on this heavy ground. We also think the ground will favour the light weights, so our 3 against the field are Unioniste (Paul Nicholls/ Noel Fehily), Midnight Prayer (Alan King/ Tom Bellamy) and Merry King (Jonjo O´Neill/ Tony McCoy).
The Grad Two Long FDistance Hurdle at 15.25 sees the reappearance of the unbeaten More Than That (O´Neill/ McCoy) one of the stars of last season and winner of the World Hurdle at Cheltenham. That form of course would suffice, but he has not run since, so we shall take a chance on front-runner Cole Harden (Warren Greatrex/ Gavin Sheehan) and Medinas (King/ Johnson), first and second at Wetherby recently.
The opening listed mares hurdle at13.20 looks quite tricky, with several of the runners unlikely to be suited by the going. We shall take a chance on A Doll in Milan (Nigel and Sam Twiston-Davies) a very easy winner on soft ground last time.
