5 poor meetings today

Only modest sport on offer at today´s 5 meetings, even the Irish evening card at Gowran Park is weak; it is hardly an evening fixture either with the first race at 17.30 CET. The most interesting runner here is the well-bred Adeste Fideles (Aidan and Joseph O´Brien) in the fillies maiden over 7 furlongs at 18.00. She was beaten in good company on her debut 15 months ago and has not raced since, which hardly bodes well; but as the daughter of a classic winner, she ought to win here and anyway needs a win to boost her stud value.

Another offspring of a classpc winner is Godolphin´s Fast Delivery (Saeed bin Suroor/ Andrea Atzeni) who runs in the 10 furlongs for 3yo´s at 18.05 at Lingfield; he is out of Preis der Diana winner Rosenreihe. He has been gelded since a disastrous performance at Goodwood´s May Meeting and we hope he runs a bit better today. Lightly-raced Shama´s Crown (Jeremy Noseda/ Kieren Fallon) and Vrood (James Fanshawe/ Tom Queally) are probably the main dangers.

Most of the jockeys at Lingfield will be travelling up to the evening meeting at Kempton, where Fallon might score on Clive Brittain´s Dalaki - beaten a nose last time at Brighton- at 20.10, while Atzeni rides Sleeper for Ralph Beckett, who is going for a fourtimer an hour later
