listed races this in Ireland evening

once again the best racing today comes this evening from Ireland where there are two listed races at Tipperary. The 5 furlongs race at 19.05 CET was won last year by Russian Soul (Mike Halford/ Shane Foley) and he can land the double despite a 5 lbs penalty. Abstraction (Mrs Dawson/ Seamus Heffernan) was third last year and could be placed again, but a greater danger is probably Jamesie (David Marnane/ Colm O´Donoghue) who is very consistent and meets Russian Soul on better terms than when beaten by him at Meydan in the winter. The listed race for 2yo´s over 7 1/2 furlongs at 20.05 looks a bit trickier, as Aidan O´Brien saddles the well-bred East India (Joseph), who was a neck winner of a Curragh maiden on his debut a month ago. In theory this form should not be good enough, but the stable´s 2yo´s usually run much better second time out and the trainer should know where he stands with Tombelaine (Dermot Weld( Liam Roche) and Convergence (Ger Lyons/ Colin Keane), who were a close second and third (in a 3 horse race!) behind O´m Brien´s Gleaneagles in a Leopardstown Group Three last time.
The 5 U.K. meetings do not really quicken the blood, with nothing better than class 3 handicaps - and usually much lower grade, and some small fields as well. Mark Johnston has his string in great form and as he always like to win his native Scotland, he can land a double at Musselburgh with King of Macedon at 16.30 and Alex My Boy half an hour later, both partnered by Joe Fanning. There are only 5 runners in the fillies handicap at 20.50 this evening at Newmarket, but 4 of them are last-time-out winners and they all represent top stables. With John Gosden and William Buick doing so well at present, perhaps Water Hole is the most likely winner.
