to be honest, today´s racing in the U.K. and Ireland is so poor that one could happily give it a complete miss. There is flat racing this afternoon at Musselburgh and this evening at Carlisle, with jumps racing at Southwell (afternoon) and Bangor (evening), while there is also an all-hurdles card in Ireland at Ballinrobe. Not only is there no quality, there is no quantity either, as practically none of the U.K. races have enough runners to enable normal each way betting. On top of that, in yet another ridiculous piece of race planning all these meetings are in the North or in Scotland.
Every winner Tony McCoy now rides means a new record, and there could be two of them at Southwell today, courtesy of She´s Late at 17.45 CET and Ozzy Thomas half an hour later, both trained by Jonjo O´Neill. Meanwhile his boss JP McManus could also have a double at Ballinrobe, with Riverside City at 20.20 and Whatever It Takes half an hour later both having possibilities.
On the flat, Bunce (Linda Perrett/ James Sullivan) could make a quick reappearance after winning at Ayr yesterday; he is entered in the 5 furlongs handicap at Musselburgh at 17.00 and as this tough campaigner seems to run every week anyway, this need not be a problem. In his absense we would fancy Flash City (Ruth Carr/ Peter McDonald), third at Haydock last Friday.
