Royal Ascot: day four: Coronation Stakes

the Royal Ascot meeting continues with dry weather and very fast going; they have watered again, but the ground will not suit everyone. Today´ s main feature is the Group One Coronation Stakes for 3yo fillies, which has runners at the start from the English, Irish and French 1,000 Guineas as well as US-trained Rosalind, a Group One winner at Keeneland earlier in the year.
The logical winner has to be Lightning Thunder (Olly Stevens/ Olivier Peslier) runner-up in both Newmarket and the Curragh, but our preference is for a filly that ran in none of the classics -indeed has not run since last September- and that is My Titania (John Oxx/ Declan McDonogh) She has a huge reputation and Oxx is a past master at preparing such fillies for the big occasion; a daughter of Sea The Stars she runs in the colours of the Tsui family, who owned that great Arc winner. An interesting outsider here is J Wonder (Brian Meehan/ Jimmy Fortune) who did not run at all badly in the French Guineas despite getting no run at all. With the O´Brien stable backl in form, Tapestry - who finished last at Newmarlet, cannot be left out and neither can Rizeena (Clive Brittain/ Ryan Moore) on her 2yo form; she was another one to run below expectations at Newmarket, while Lesstalk in Paris (JC Rouget/ Christophe Soumillon) was the beaten favourite at Longchamp and must also put the record straight.
