6 meetings today

Plenty of racing again, but most of it at a low level. We have two flat meetings on turf, two on the all-weather and two meetings over jumps. The best horse running today is almost certainly Khalid Abdullah´s Remote (John Gosden/ James Doyle) who has top weight in the mile handicap at 16.50 CET at Nottingham. This very well-bred 4yo (a half-brother to Kingman) has won 3 of his career starts and is probably much better than his current rating. Even so, he may not be a good bet today as he is coming off a break of 11 months, since Royal Ascot last year, and the ground may not be as firm as he seems to like. The Rectifier (Seamus Durack/ Adam Kirby) and Fort Bastion (Ruth Carr/ James Sullivan) are both in good form, receive weight, and may possibly have a fitness advantage.

The best race over jumps is the 2 3/4 mile chase at 19.20 at POiunchestown. We would love to see German-bred Noble Prince (Paul Nolan/ Robbie Power) win here, but this is a surprisingly strong field for the prize-money and he has to give weight to some useful performers. Another German-bred we like over jumps today is Seventh Sky (Charlie Mann/ Gavin Sheehan) in the novice chase at 15.40 at Fontwell. This half-brother to Samum & co has so far not lived up to expectations, but he has been placed in his two runs over fences and can make it third time lucky today..
