6 meetings today

Monday is rarely a good day and today we have 6 meetings, but almost every race at a very low level. The 5 furlongs handicap at Redcar at 17.20 CET is probably the best race of the day and these sprint handicaps are always tricky. We like Stone of Folca (John Best/ Luke Morris) here, who is down in grade after a string of poor performances in much better company. However he is very well handicapped on his old form - his last win 2 years was in the Epsom Dash off a higher rating- he goes well fresh and has won this race before. Half an hour later the in-form team of David O´Meara and Danny Tudhope can take the 3yo handicap with Sheriff of Nawton; he is much improved since being switched to turf and has won his last two races, including CD.

O´Meara can also be on the scorecard at Southwell´s all-weather meeting with Patronia Ciana (David Nolan), who has top weight in the 6 furlongs handicap for fillies at 17.30; this race looks much easier than the one in which she finished unplaced at York last week.

There is racing this evening at Windsor and Leicester, and it is striking that most of the top jockeys are at the latter track. Ryan Moore seems to have the best book of rides and can ride several winners. Another jockey hopeful of multiple wins is Tony McCoy who has 5 rides at Towcester, all with chances.

in Ireland, there is a mixed meeting at Roscommon, with 4 flat races followed by a bumper and two chases. It is apparently raining there, a good reason to give this card a miss.
