5 poor meetings today

All today´s racing in the U.K. is on the flat, with Nottingham, Bath and Newcastle this afternoon, and Yarmouth and Warwick this evening, but they are all at a very low level. Almost every race is class 5 or worse and basically they are not good for betting purposes.

The best race of the day is arguably the 10 furlongs handicap for 3yo filles at 16.30 CET at Nottingham, with several well-bred and lightly-raced fillies engaged. With the Stoute stable now coming into form, we like Heho (Ryan Moore) here, who looks as is she could be significantly better than her current handicap rating suggests.

The most interesting race at Bath is the 5 furlongs handicap at 15.40, with several CD specialists in action, notably Dreams of Glory (Ron Hodges/ Harry Bentley). who has won 4 times over this CD, and Alcando (Denis Coakley/ Royston Ffrench), both of whose career wins have been here. At these weights we prefer the latter.

The ground is firming up everywhere, which may not be ideal for German-bred Fieldgunner Kirkup (David Barron/ Graham Goibbons) in the 7 furlongs handicap at 17.50 at Newcastle, and he is also very inconsistent, but he seems so well handicapped now that we must give him a sporting chance over his best distance.

One horse that has caught our eye this evening is Noverre To Go (Ron Harris/ Steve Drowne) in the 6 furlongs handicap at 19.45 at Warwick. An easy six furlongs on fast ground is what he wants, and he seems to have his ideal conditions here.
