two Grade Two chases in Ireland

some good racing today from Thurles and the Irish track stages one of its top meetings with two Grade Two chases. The mares novice chase over 2 1/2 miles at 15.15 CET should go to Une Artiste (Nicky Henderson/ Barry Geraghty), the Lambourn trainer´s first ever runner here. She is top-rated here, was easily the best of these over hurdles and seems to be going the right way over fences. Byerly Babe (Robert Tyner/ PT Enright) and Kates Benefit (D Budds/ Danny Mullins) look booked for the minor places.
The Kinloch Brae Chase over the same trip half an hour later is the main feature and looks tricky. Gigginstown has two runners., with Bryan Cooper on Philip Fenton´ s Last Instalment; however he has not run since winning two Grade Ones in the spring of 2012, and perhaps the other Gigginstown runner Quito de la Roque (Colm Murphy/ Davy Russell), who won this last year, can be preferred. Willie Mullins can never le left out of calculations, but his runner Prince de Beauchene (Ruby Walsh) needs to improve on his latest efforts. More dangerous in our view are Noel Meades´ two runners Texas Jack (Paul Carberry) and Realt Dubh (Barry Geraghty); although not the choice of the stable jockey, the latter is our choice as he is receiving weight and although he has not won for almost 3 years has plenty of good form at this level.
