Meydan today

today´s Meydan card is relatively low key with the listed 6 furlongs race at 17.50 CET the main event. This looks very difficult with runners from all over, but course specialist Reynaldothewizard (Satish Seeman/ Richard Mullen) looks the safest option; he was unbeaten in 3 starts over this CD at last year´s Carnival.
Also on the card are the trial races for the UAE 1000 Guineas at 16.05 and 2000 Guineas at 16.40. Mike de Kock and Charlie Appleby each have two runners in both races and they could well dominate. Christophe Soumlllon rides Magrooma and Jourmeyman for the South African trainer and both are on the short list, although stable companion Full Combat, ridden by the owner´s retained jockey Paul Hanagan, is an obvious threat in the colts´ race, but we prefer the Godolphin runners Wedding Ring and Safety Check, both partnered by Mikael Barzalona.
There are two runners with German connections running in the 10 furlongs handicap at 17.15, Energizer (Appleby/ Barzalona) and Sahawar (Christophe Ferland/ Thierry Thulliez). The former was a Royal Ascot winner for Jens Hirschberger and Gestüt Schlenderhan in 2012, but missed all last year as a result of the doping scandal, while Sahawar, owned by our boss, last ran in the Arc, no less, and finished a respectable 11th. Both should figure today, but it is a very open affair.

Betting forecast:
1. Race: Cat O`mountain - Saxo Jack - Haafaguinea
2. Race: Autumn Lily - Wedding Ring - Magroora
3. Race: Emirates Flyer - Dolce N Karama - Safety Check
4. Race: Star Empire - Energizer - Code Of Honor
5. Race: Reynaldothewizard - Kavanagh - United Color
6. Race: Validus - Counterglow - Lehaaf
