Exeter today

With Ffos Las and Lingfield off, the additional card at Exeter is now the only the only jumps racing of the day. The veterans handicap chase over 3 miles at 16.40 CET is the main event, and the weights are headed by the smart front-runner Junior (David PIpoe/ Conor O´Farrell); he has come down in the ratings, but still has to concede 15 lbs and more all round here, and we prefer his stable companion Alderluck (Mikey Ennis), who looks well handicapped off bottom weight. The main danger is probably Ballyoliver (Venetia Williams/ Aidan Coleman), whose team continue in great form and had another double yesterday. Our other fancies here are Milarrow (Colin Tizzard/ Brendan Powell) at 13.55, Strollawaynow (David Arbuthnot/ Tom Cannon) half an hour later, and Allow Dallow (Jonjo O´Neill/ Tony McCoy) in the maiden hurdle at 16.05; the last-named is out of a German mare and is in our view the best thing of the day.

There is also low level flat racing on the all-weather at Southwell where 6 of the 7 races are poor grade handicaps. The best of them is the 5 furlongs race at 16.25, in which we select Hannahs Turn (Chris Dwyer/ Shelley Birkett); This course specialist has won 6 times at Southwell, all at sprint distances and the last twice with this talented young rider aboard.
