4 poor meetings today

for a Friday, today´s cards are very poor with even the sole remaining N.H. meeting at Sedgefield (abandoned Huntingdon would have been more interesting) of little significance. One runner who catches the eye om pedigree is Next Hight (Sue Smith/ Jonathan England), who runs in the novices handicap hurdle at 14.45 CET. He is out of German classic winner Night Petticoat, which makes him a half-brother to German Derby winner Next Desert, but he has very little of their ability. However this is such a weak race that he must have a decent chance. Another runner with German connections is Pindar (Jodie Foster/ Sammy Drake) in the handicap chase half an hlour earlier; he was bred by Schlenderhan, but is also a very modest performer running in a weak race, although we are not sure how he will handle the heavy ground. Foster and Drake possibly have better prospects with Cara Court at 15.15, who is penalised 7 lbs for winning at New Year but meets very feeble opposition here.
The only flat race today which could conceivably be of interest is the 3yo maiden at Dundalk at 29.45, with runners from top trainers Aidan O´Brien and Dermot Weld, but there is very little form to go on, and to be honest we would rather leave these races alone and wait for tomorrow´s much better cards (weather permitting).
