5 more poor meetings today

Once again. very poor fare on offer today., with no race better than class 4 and some very small fields - especially at the two afternoon meetings, making them not at all punter-friendly. Sir Mark Prescott has a good strike rate at Brighton, and his Alzavola (Luke Morris) looks likely to start favourite for the 10 furlongs handicap there at 16.45, but we prefer top-weight Jewelled (Lady Herries/ Martin Lane), who has not won for ages but is consistent enough in this grade, and Claude Monet (Simon Dow/ Sean Levey), who ran quite well last time. The horse George Baker runs for the trainer George Baker in the 7 furlongs handicap at 17.30 at Yarmouth; the jockey George Baker has won on him as well, but today Ryan Moore takes over and the combination can score after a good performance last time in a much better race at Sandown.

Graham Lee looks the jockey to follow at Leicester´s evening meeting; he has several promising rides, notably Geoff Oldroyd´s Jubilee Dancer, going for a fourtimer at 19.00, and Brian Baugh´s Goldstorm an hour later. The most interesting race at Worcester´s N.H. fixture this evening is the novice hurdle at 20.40. Lost Legend (Jonjo O´Neill/ Tony McCoy) is top-rated here, but that is because of his good chasing form- over sticks he has shown less aptitude. My Lucky Flame (Sean Curran/ Mikey Hamill) has won her last 3 races but now has a huge weight, so it could lie between last-time-out winners Benefit of Youth (Tim Vaughan( Richard Johnson) and Kilbree Kid (Tom George/ Paddy Brennan) with a slight preference for the latter.

There is a mixed meeting at Sligo this evening, with 4 flat races followed by 3 over hurdles. Our best bet at the Irish meeting is Popmurphy (Ross O´Sullivan/ Andrew McNamara) in the maiden hurdle at 21.20. He has failed to win in 9 attempts so far over the sticks, but has been placed several times, and he was easily the best of these on the flat.
