Telescope at Leicester

with the heatwave continuing and firm ground almost everywhere, there are tiny fields at today´s 5 British meetings. Normal each way betting is practically impossible, with numerous races with 5, 4 or even 3 runners and punting opportunities very limited.
Easily the best race of the day in the U.K. is the conditions race for 3yo´s over 10 furlongs at 16.10 CET at Leicester. which sees the seasonal debut of Telescope (Sir Michael Stoute/ Ryan Moore). The Galileo colt was an impressive winner of a decent Newmarket maiden last September, following which he was made ante-post favourite for the Derby. However as a result of various setbacks, he has not been seen out since, though reportedly in very good form.
He has only two opponents today, but even so this race is far from a formality as they are both potentially very useful. Centurius (Marco Botti/ Dane O´Neill) is already proven at listed level, even though he ran badly at Royal Ascot last time, while Godolphin´s Mulakim (Saeed bin Suroor/ Silvestre de Sousa) made a winning debut at Haydock just 13 days ago and could be anything. Even so, if Telescope is as good as he is cracked up to be , then he ought to win this en route to better things.
