Rest of today´s racing

Today´s Irish meeting at Tipperary has been cancelled, but there is still some good racing, notably at Cheltenham, where 4 races are restricted to mares, including the listed novices handicap chase at 15.35 CET. Violin Davis (Harry Fry/ Noel Fehily), who was previously a smart hurdler, has been in great form and won her last 4 races - although rather lucky last time-. and is still very fairly handicapped.

The improving Marie des Anges (Tony Honeyball/ Charlie Huxley) looks the main danger off her light weight, although the trainer also has Jackies Solitaire (Aidan Coleman) entered. Honeyball could be in for a good day, as we also expect Eleven Fifty Nine (Rachael Green) to run a big race in the listed handicap hurdle at 16.10 - where the 2012 winner and top-weight Kells Belle (Nicky Henderson/ Barry Geraghty) is an obvious danger, while Danimix (Fehily) at 16.45 and Velator (Fehily) at 19.00 also have good prospects. However in the former race we shall side with the two CD specialists Midnight Chase (Neil Mulholland/ Dougie Costello) and Ashkazar (David Pipe/ Timmy Murphy), and in the latter with German-bred El Dancer (Lucy Wadham/ Leighton Aspell), who has won his last two races but is still well weighted on his old hurdles form.

There are some very open handicaps at Ripon, where Klynch (Ruth Carr/ Peter McDonald) and Sandy Lane (David O´Meara/ Graham Gibbons) can possibly land the two divisions of the 6 furlongs race for older horses at 16.20 and 17.30. While top weight Right Touch, from the in-form Richard Fahey stable, can take the handicap over the same trip for 3yo´s at 18.05 with good claimer George Chaloner in the saddle.
