3 meetings in the U.K. today

the racing in the U.K.today is much inferior to that on offer in Ireland, but there some interesting jumps races at Exeter- if the meeting goes ahead; an inspection is to be held later after an unexpectedly heavy frost.
Philip Hobbs is going through a very quiet spell but we hope he comes back to form today at a track where he usually does well. The lightly-raced Lord Protector at 15.40 CET and Jayandbee half an hour later, are both partnered by Richard Johnson and both look nicely handivcapped here. Later on there could be a couple of German-bred winners as King of the Night (Harry Fry/ Noel Fehily) in the novice chase at 16.40 and Engai (David Bridgwater/ Tom Phelan) in the handicap hurdle at 18.10 both look to have decent chances.
The two all-weather meetings are as usual very low quality. The best race at Kemptpon is the 1 1/2 mile handicap at 17.00. The interesting one here is Fleur de la Vie (Ralph Beckett/ Jim Crowley); she won 3 successive races last summer, including this CD, but has not been seen out since. She is up in the weights but can continue her winning run if anywhere hear peak form. At Southwell the 5 furlongs handicap at 16.50 is the main event. Local trainer Scott Dixon saddles two runners, and his top-weight Even Stevens (Billy Cray)., who has an excellent course record, is the selection.
