Newbury and Sedgefield

while waiting to hear whether Doncaster goes ahead or not, we shall have a quick look at today´s two N.H. meetings. Newbury has easily the better card, with runners from many of the leading stables. The powerful Paul Nicholls/ Daryl Jacob combination has just one runner, Pay the King, and he should certainly win the maiden hurdle at 15.10 CET. David Pipe has sevetraöl runners here, and we would not be surprised to see Prime Location take the handicap hurdle at 16.15 (German-bred Promised Wings looks the danger here) and the very promising Shotavodka win at 17.25; Both have top weight and will be ridden by Tom Scudamore. The Monsun gelding Iolith, who was listed class on the flat and showed great talent over hurdles is an interesting runner in the latter event, but has been off the track for almost 2 years, so caution is advised.
The best race at Sedgefield is the novices handicap hurdle at 17.00, the track´s most valuable race of the season, where we exoect the two top-weights Walkabout Creek (Steve Gollings/ James Revely) and Deise Dynamo (Donald McCain/ Jason Maguire) to dominate. We have slight preference for the former, who scored in good style over this CD at the beginning of the month. The handicap chase over 3 miles 3 furlongs at 17.35 is another interesting event and most of the runners have met befpre. Overyou (Chris Grant/ Diarmuid O´Regan) won two days ago at Haydock, but we are dubious about the value of the form - only 2 finished- and two tough staying races on this ground in 3 days does in any case not sound such a great idea. He is held on earlier form by Soiudain() Steve Gollings/ Patrick Bohan), who in turn is held by Heez a Steel (George Charlton/ Lucy Alexander), so we make the last-named our selection.
