listed race at Naas

once again the best race of the day is a listed race at an Irish evening meeting, this time at Naas, where the Sweet Mimosa Stakes for fillies over 6 furlongs will be run at 20.25 CET. Last year´s winner Katla (JF Grogan/ WillieLee) lines up again, but we cannot fancy her to give weight away all round. Aidan O´Brien continues in almost unstoppable form, but we are not so keen on his two runners Empowering (with son Joseph in the saddle) and After (Seamus Heffernan), who have both had plenty of chances. Lady Wingshot (Jim Bolger/ Kevin Manning) is very interesting on her seasonal debut, having run some good races last year, but the clear form choice is Fire Lily (David Wachman/ Wayne Lordan), who had no chance last time in the July Cup, but whose previous Group Three victory in the Ballyogan Stakes gives her an obvious chance in this company. The O´Brien´s should not go home empty-handed, as we expect Learn to win the conditions race at 20.55, while for those prepared to stay to the bitter end, we like Prince Jock (Pat Shanahan/ Colm O´Donoghue) in the last race, a mile handicap at 22.00.
