German runner at York

There is also good racing today at York and Newbury and York´s Group Three Summer Stakes for fillies over 6 furlongs at 15.35 has a German runner Gracia Directa (Dominik Moser/ Robert Winston), winner of a listed race at Hoppegarten and before that a handicap at the Baden-Baden May meeting, This is another move up in grade, but the trainer seems confident that she will run a big race.

Top-rated here is Margot Did (Michael Bell/ Hayley Turner) but she has been below form so far this year and is probably better over 5 furlongs anyway. On recent form the two 3yo´s Radio Gaga (Ed McMahon/ Richard Mullern) and Sentaril (William Haggas/ Kelly Harrison), runner-up in the Jersey Stakes at Royal Ascot, are the ones to beat.

With so much good racing today there is a lot of pressure to find the best jockeys and it is surprising to see Richard Hughes riding at Newbury, where he has 5 mounts, 4 for this father-in-law Richard Hannon. His best chances are Varnish at 25.50 and Aldwick Bay at 17.35. However the most popular winner would probably be oldtimer Cape Royal (Milton Bradley/ Pat Dobbs), who contests his 178th race in the 5 furlongs handicap at 17.00. He has won 13 races and been placed 46 times and we hope to see him in the frame again at the age of 12.
