Rest of Epsom

The Epsom card also includes two group races, the Princess Elizabeth Stakes for fillies over an extended mile at 14.40 CET and the Diomed Stakes over the same distance at 15.50. There is a German runner in the former race -Gestüt Ammerland´s Navarra Queen (Peter Schiergen/ Andrasch Starke) and she undoubtedly has at least a place chance in an open race. Lay Time (Andrew Balding/ Jimmy Fortune), despite having her first run since September looks the best of the Brits. The Diomed looks at the mercy of Worthadd (Sir Mark Prescott/ Mirco Demuro), who won the Badener Meile last time out. He was runner-up in the Lockinge last year and none of today´s rivals have any pretensions to that class. Balding and Fortune again have the next best with Side Glance.

The handicaps look very tricky, but lightly-raced Gatewood (John Gosden/ William Buick) has obvious prospects in the 10 furlongs event at 15.15, and the same team have a chance in the mile handicap at 16.25 with Unex El Greco, although our main fancy here is the Irish-trained Prince Jock (Pat Shanahan/ Kieren Fallon). Even with only 6 runners, the listed race for 3yo´s at 17.50 looks difficult, but Producer (Richard Hannon/ Richard Hughes) won 3 times over this CD last year and is our selection in this better grade..
