Chepstow abandoned

This afternoon´s Chepstow fixture has been abandoned as the track is waterlogged. This leaves just Musselburgh and Wolverhampton racing this afternoon, although there is also evening N.H. racing at Bangor and Fontwell, as well as Kilbeggan in Ireland and the usual Irish all-weather meeting at Dundalk. To be honest, there is nothing of much quality to be seen running today, but it is certainly interesting that Saeed bin Suroor has entered two Godolphin 3yo´s in the 7 furlong maiden races at Wolverhampton, Blue Tiger (Mikael Barzalona) at 15.10 and Mizwaaj (Silvestre de Sousa) half an hour later, while in the latter race Barzalona partners Mahmood al Zarooni´s Curzon Line, another Godolphin 3yo. Godolphin rarely has runners at this track, but Saeed has a strike rate of over 30% here, so they must be taken very seriously.

At Musselburgh the best race is the 3yo handicap over 9 furlongs at 16.00. This looks quite a hot race, with 4 last-time-out winners. Clayton (Kevin Ryan/ Phillip Makin) won by 9 lengths on his debut, and although he must now carry top weight, may be good enough to win again. The ex-Godolphin Borug (James Tate/ Paul Hanagan) can take the handicap for older horses over the same trip half an hour later, also under top weight.
