Rest of U.K. and Irish racing

There is also a decent all-weather card at Kempton, where the listed Magnolia Stakes at 15.20 is the main feature. This is not a good betting race, with question marks over the principals, notably Arctic Cosmos (John Gosden/ William Buick), who won the St. Leger in 2010 but has only run twice since and for whom today´s trip of 10 furlongs is possibly not ideal, while Fair Trade (Hughie Morrison/ Paul Hanagan) and Hurricane Higgins (Mark Johnston/ Franny Norton) are both coming off long breaks. We do however expect Gosden to take the big handicap at 16.30 with the lightly-raced and progressive Eshtibaak, who can give Paul Hanagan the perfect start to his new job as Sheikh Hamdan´s number one jockey. Yorkshire trainer Richard Fahey has plenty of runners at Doncaster but has described Alben Star (Hanagan) in the 7 furlongs conditions race at 17.05 as his best bet of the day, so we shall go along with that, although Palace Moon (Wilf Knight/ Luke Morris) and Primaeval /(Ja mes Fanshawe/ Steven Donohoe) will offer stern opposition. Today´s N.H. cards in Britain, at Uttoxeter and Stratford, are of very little interest, but there is some better jumps racing in Ireland at Navan.
