rest of Longchamp

with 9 races on the card, including 8 Group Ones (one of them for Arab-breds), this is the best raceday of the whole year. The card opens with the Prix du Cadran over 4000 metres at 13.10 CET, in which the German hope Tres Rock Danon(Waldemar Hickst/ Andreas Suborics), who stays for ever but is rather one-paced, has a chance of being placed.
The Prix de l´Abbaye at 13.45 is over the other extreme distance- 1000 metres. French runners very rarely win this, and the field of 15 includes 8 Brits, 2 Irish and one Swedish hope. This is tricky, but our main fancies are Prohibit (Robert Cowell/ Jim Crowley) and Sole Power (Eddie Lynam/ Keagan Latham).
The two races for 2yo´s which follow are the weakest events of the day - the Prix Marcel Boussac for fillies at 14.20, and the Prix Jean-Luc Lagardere at 14.55, in which Dabirsim (Christophe Ferland Frankie Dettori) will be the hottest favourite of the day. The colt is unbeaten in 4 starts and on all known form should have much too much firepower for 6 rivals today. He is owned by our good friend (and boss!) Simon Springer.
Grmn hop lin thu do not run in th Pro d la Fort ovr 7 furlong t 15.30. The race looks at the mercy of magnificent Goldikova (Freddie Head/ Olivier Peslier), who won this last year and is now going for an unprecendented 15th Group One success. This is almost certainly her last race in Europe. The Italian 4yo Worthadd (Vincente Caruso/ Dettori) may chase her home.
There is a double German entry in the Prix de la Foret for fillies and mares over 10 furlongs at 17.45, where Fjumama (Andreas Löwe/ Andreas Helfenbein) has a much better chance than Julies Love (Manfred Hofer/ Mikael Barzalona)- who was due to be sold last night. The supplemented Announce (Andre Fabre/ Maxime Guyon), the unbeaten Nahrain (Roger Varian/ Dettori) and the tough Irish filly Banimpire (Jim Bolger/ Kevin Manning) are the ones to beat.
